Design Project: Innovative Scent
An Introduction to Innovative Scent
Innovative Scent is a new essential oil company. The brand's focus is to bring natural fragrance to Innovative Scent's customers without any chemicals, dyes, or artificial fragrance. Innovative scent also sell's accessories like oil diffusers, car diffusers, and even wall plug-ins.
Overview of the Logo and It's Usage
This logo was created as a part of the launch of Innovative Scent. When creating the logo I wanted to embody the natural simplicity of the brand. I also felt it was important for the logo to give the brand an earthy feel. I incorporated a mix of green, blue, and grey tones to remind consumers of nature as well as eucalyptus and an essential oil bottle.
The logo will be used for business cards, labels, advertisements, social media, and for the website. The logo can be used over both black and white material. Innovative Scent has access to use this logo for any of the company's needs. This logo is not for use of anyone outside of the company. This logo is also not for use of any kind without permission of the owners of Innovative Scent.

Overview of Innovative Scent Website

The Innovative Scent website is the main platform for purchasing the company's oils and accessories. My goal with the website was to make it clean and accessible for any user. The page shown is the shopping page for the essential oils. I took a photo of essential oil bottles laying on top of eucalyptus to use as the background because eucalyptus is a popular essential oil. I also added a frosted look to the page. My goal was to make the background compatible with the logo. I used earth tones as the color set and kept simple fonts so that everything was legible and balanced.

Sources of Inspiration

The first source of inspiration for Innovative Scent was Anthropologie's website navigation setup. I enjoy how modern the brand is and how the logo is the center to the website making it seem important and memorable.

My next source of inspiration was this home decor palette. I liked the earth tones used and how the wood combined with the colors. I used a wood desk as a prop in the background of the webpage to give it a similar texture as the wood shown here.
This logo was a source of inspiration for the text in my logo. I tried to find something similar because it looks very professional and goes well with the plant.

This glass bottle was a source of inspiration for my background on the webpage. I liked the idea of using a plain brown bottle to match the earth tones and keep the photo looking clean, while understanding what the product is. Using glass bottles also gives the impression that the company is more sustainable.
Eucalyptus played a huge role in the making of the logo and webpage. I used eucalyptus in the logo and webpage because it is a popular scent, is often displayed in homes, or used in weddings. It sounds funny to say, but this plant is thought of to be "trendy" among consumers.

Lastly, Young Living's products inspired me when thinking about the site map and the services that Innovative Scent would offer. I use Young Living essential oils and think they have unique accessories. I tried to think of some products that Innovative Scent could sell outside of just essential oils, similar to how Young Living sells various products as well.
The Color Set
Below are the colors I used for the Innovative Scent logo and webpage. I picked these colors because they remind me of nature and what being a natural company represents.

The Font Set

The fonts I used on the Innovative Scent webpage and logo were playfair display and American typewriter. I used these fonts because they are easy to read on most backgrounds and are easy to read whether the font size is small or big.
