Food is often thought of as the center of a family holiday. Holiday dishes around the world often vary from country to country. In this post we will discuss holiday dishes from countries around the world. You might even find a new dish to incorporate into your family's holiday dinners!

France
France is often thought of for their yummy food! The holidays are no exception. According to Europe's Not Dead the author states that French dinners typically include turkey, a guinea fowl or pheasant stuffed with chestnuts, mushrooms and vegetables.
Ireland
Similar to France Ireland also has turkey as a part of their holiday dinner. Europe's Not Dead states that an Ireland holiday dinner typically includes ham or goose on top of turkey, as well as a round cake full of caraway seeds. According to Wikipedia caraway is an herb with a strong pungent flavor used as a spice in baking.
Mexico
According to Trip Savvy in Mexico, it is customary to have the family dinner late on Christmas eve. The article also states that some of the most popular parts of dinner include Ensalada de Noche Buena, a Christmas salad that contains fruits vegetables and nuts. The article also stated that another popular food tradition for holidays in Mexico is tamales. Tamales are corn masa with different fillings, wrapped in corn husks. Other food traditions include, bacalao, romeritos, and pavo.
Japan
Lastly, Japan has one of the most interesting holiday traditions as far as food. According to Osaka Japanese Bistro, a holiday favorite in Japan is getting KFC. The article discussed how a marketing campaign took off and Japan, and the country has lines every year of people waiting to get fired chicken.
