As a society we have acknowledged that Italian food is the front of some of the best home cooked meals. We travel to Italy and are expecting to have some of the best meals of our lives. What makes Italian cooking so good though? Today, I want to look into the top two things that make Italy's food so good!

According to The Ten Commandments of Italian Cooking the first thing Italians live by is buying the best ingredients. If you buy better quality food that is fresh and full of flavor you will get a much better result than if you bought all the cheapest, more heavily processed, foods you can find at any grocery store. The article states the statistic "italians spend $5,200 (£3,600) per person per year on food". That is $433 a month per person! According to Italy Explained "There are plenty of Italians who still do their daily (or near-daily) shopping at a series of shops – the butcher, the produce shop, and so on. Larger all-purpose grocery stores do exist, though, in both big cities and smaller towns. As you can probably guess, the quality of fresh food isn’t necessarily as good at the bigger markets, but they win the convenience race." Most people prefer to shop in the street markets in Italy rather than the grocery store.

The second thing that makes Italian cooking so good is the simplicity of their meals. According to Italian Food - What Makes It So Special "Italian recipes usually involve only 4-8 ingredients at any one time. The focus always remains on the quality of the food – not how elaborate a dish might be." A popular dish in Italy is pizza! You can't get much simpler than that, and it always tastes so good!
