Knowing where to start in the kitchen is the hardest part. One of the most important things that you should do before beginning to learn to cook, is make sure that you have the right equipment. In this post we will look at what top chefs say their kitchen must haves are, and develop a list of equipment beginners should use. The chefs that we will be reviewing today are Gordon Ramsay and Anthony Bordain.

The first chef we will be discussing is Gordon Ramsay. According to a video on Gordon Ramsay's youtube titled "Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Kits" his kitchen must haves are actually simpler than you think. The first thing he recommends having is two saucepans, one medium and one large. He says the secret to finding a good sauce pan is to find sauce pans with thick bottoms. He recommends this so that you do not burn your food. Next, he recommends having three knives, one for chopping, a paring knife, and lastly a serrated knife. Lastly, he recommends a nice casserole dish because they are so versatile in the kitchen. You can use them in the oven or on the stove. The next chef recommendation we will be looking at is from Anthony Bordain. According to an article from Jaquo, Anthony Bordain mentions five essential kitchen tools in his book called "Kitchen Confidential''. The first item is a quality knife. He believes you do not need multiple knives if you have one good knife that is versatile. The next item is an offset

serrated knife. These knives are good for cutting bread. The next item is a squeeze bottle to elevate your dish with designs. You can keep things like sauces in them to elevate your dish to look like a restaurant dish according to Anthony. Next he recommends metal rings. These can be used for presentation and for moulding. Lastly, like Gordon Ramsay he also recommends a heavyweight pan.

These two chefs definitely think similar in what they need while cooking. This goes to show, you do not need expensive kitchen gadgets in order to make amazing dishes like these top chefs!
